We popped in for lunch and we’re warmly greeted by the staff
The choices were vast, but all looked delicious. We ordered the Margarita and Sicilian pizzas. Both had delicious crispy fresh bases and ample toppings. We also bought the penne carbonara and beef lasagna. Very generous servings with great flavour. Could easily share the carbonara between two people.
We were offered containers to take away the leftovers.
Well priced for the size of the dishes and the remote location. Thankyou!!

Delicious pizza! Very tasty and satisfying! I couldn’t eat a whole 9inch Spartan (a lot of topping!), but my husband made his way through the 12inch pepperoni, and my son devoured the 9inch plain (adding that he rates it one million out of 10 ?). The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant was clean and just what you’d expect in the Aussie outback, don’t expect fancy! Loved it. Thanks guys!

Love the food. It was so delicious. And perfect for quantity and quality. Has plenty of sitting. Pizza prepared time was around 40 minutes, but other food, Burger , steak yiros was served faster and every thing was sooo delicious. Has outside and inside sitting arrangements. Location is very good.

Recommend their Native Pizzas ??
Ordered for 'Coat of Arms', The smokey kangaroo meat was so tender, perfectly balanced with the chicken meat (subsidised emu meats with chickens as they are out of stock), the faint sweet cranberry is perfect with the meats!
The foods takes a while to be served, but it's definitely worth the wait! Really glad we ate here during our visit to Coober Peddy!

Walking in the front door, I knew this place was going to be good.. heaps of customers ( that says plenty) 6 staff members working flat out pumping out very tasty pizzas like a production line. only disappointing thing was there was no Emu for my Coat of Arms pizza so smokey Kangaroo it was

Great pizza at a great price. We appreciated that we could order a large and do half and half on the specialty pizza which made it a very economical meal (we disagree on if pineapple should be on pizza...). They definitely do not skimp on the toppings! There's plenty of seating but be prepared for a wait at peak meal times.

What a delicious pizza! One of the best I've had in Australia, and to find it in such a remote town is both surprising and awesome.
Kind & friendly staff. 15-20 min wait time because its a popular spot. I had gluten free pizza (John's special) , it's +5$ for GF and comes only in Medium Size. Very good for being GF as well!

John's Pizza Bar & Restaurant is the epitome of delicious pizza. I got one last year on my travels and kept thinking about getting another one at my earliest convenience unfortunately it took another year for me to head back to Coober Pedy for work. But finally I have gotten another large Spartan pizza & it is perfection!! Super tasty, amazing service and friendly staff. I cannot begin to describe how much this place is amazing, if anyone gets the opportunity to come and get a pizza here I couldn't recommend it more than currently am this rating of 5 is a solid 5.
Thanks again to the friendly staff at John's love ya work!

This is our second attempt to come try their pizza. In our first visit, the restaurant was packed with diners and pizza waiting time is approximately 2 hours. So skip.
Service [4] Ambient [3] Friendly staff and help to arrange tables and chairs as we came in large group. Seatings are standard indoor while outdoor also available if you braved the wind.
Food [3.5]. This time the pizza wait time is only 30 mins so we didn't have to starve (or sort of go very hungry). Pizza were okay. The Satay Pizza didn't have the great satay flavour nor taste. We had two large bowls of wedges but it seems not that large. I wonder how is like for Small and Medium.
I didn't review other food from the menu but can see from other diners who ordered the Parma Chicken and Pasta, the portion look big. Too bad, we won't be here for long to try others as heading south soon.

Ended up here on an incredibly busy Saturday night, and the speed, efficiency and friendliness with which staff handled masses of hungry patrons was extremely impressive. These people are true professionals. The food is great, too, and excellent value for Coober Pedy. Plus, there's a nice shaded verandah outside. Thumbs up & highly recommend!

Very friendly service, very popular restaurant, nice pizzas and other foods. Relatively prompt service given the crowds, but don't be in a rush for dinner! We'll worth visiting. The waitress gave us tons of dried chili for our pizza which was much appreciated .

Normally reserve 5 star for the places that deserve it. Johns Pizza Bar was family friendly. We had Cheeseburgers, Chicken Schnitzel burger, some chips and Sweet chilli Chicken Pizza for our dinner. Best value and taste compared to other outback places we have tried recently. Good job!

Australia's 'most famous' pizza bar - John's does not let you down. If you can't find a pizza you like here, you don't like pizza!
Other dishes (burgers, pasta, lasagna, etc.) can be found here as well, but it's called 'Pizza Bar' for a reason!
And while you're here, please give the splendid staff your biggest smile - they deserve every ounce of respect!

This is by far the best pizza I have ever had. The perfect relief after a long day of driving! Awesome taste and the wait is not long at all for the quality of ingredients. You can tell they really care about quality and I always visit whenever I go through this beautiful town.

So glad we decided to have lunch here while visiting. It was 42°C outside so we chose to dine in. Honestly, it was one of the nicest pizzas I've eaten! Had the largest sized Capriocciosa pizza with added salami for an extra $1. It fed our family of four with a few slices as leftovers which took away with us.

I had the pepper steak, amazing. Steak was huge, pepper sauce was 5 star. Best pepper sauce I have ever had ever! Hubby had the Spartan pizza. Yum. The place was extremely busy. Which I can say was warranted. Would definitely visit again buyt just passing through. Great food!

Business is booming! If you're in Coober Pedy you've got to come here. John offers an extensive menu and has accrued multiple awards for his food. There are grills, pastas, salads, and seafood dishes alongside the already long pizza menu. We had the Mediterranean veg pizza, and the coat of arms pizza which is kangaroo and emu (minus the emu because they ran out), but nevertheless it was delicious!

The best pizza restaurant in South Australia - Just a trifle distant for most orders in the state! Excellent food, diverse beer and wines, friendly service and a pleasant venue. We dined there twice and left comfortably full. Definitely the place to eat when in Coober Pedy!

We wanted to try the native pizzas here but were disappointed that there were out of Emu both days we were there. Nevertheless we a half and half of John's special and Satay Chicken. They we both so delicious we went back the next day to try their half and half of Spartan and Sweet Chilli Chicken and they didn't disappoint either. There was just enough toppings and cheese and the crust was a tad "hard" but was crispy and had just the right thickness and substance. The garden salad was a bit oily though, but was generous in serving. The first night we were there it was packed and although there was a bit of wait, service was still efficient and quick. Not sure when we'll be back at Coober Pedy, but we will certainly drop in again if we were there and we highly recommend that you do!

Loved it. Super busy as we visited over the Easter weekend but this was to be expected and was great to see the place full up.
Prices were reasonable given the remote location and great sized portions.
We enjoyed two beers each in the sun while waiting.
We ordered two Medium pizzas (which were huge!) one BBQ chicken and one Coat of Arms (Kangaroo, Emu). Both were delicious and we took some leftovers home for lunch the following day.
Staff were wonderful and very friendly and accomodating.
Would recommend!

We were really looking forward to our pizza after a big drive to Coober Pedy. The pizza looks impressive with plenty of topping and cooked perfectly but ... I don’t know how else to say it... it didn’t taste like anything. The anchovies provided a strong flavour but everything else was kinda bland, even the tomato sauce which was a bit sad for a pizza with the lot

Had tea there on Wednesday night - ordered the Yiros which I thought would have been fairly simple to prepare and serve but alas it was a menu chewing wait for some reason.
Dined in Thursday lunch and ordered Pizzas no drama at all - tasted fantastic would highly recommend the Pizzas ?

Fantastic lamb yiros at a good price, surprisingly good and cheap for this location. Pretty good service. They delivered to our hotel, super convenient. Pizza was good, perfectly adequate, definitely nothing amazing - have had far better so maybe we were just unlucky but not too sure where the rave reviews are coming from. Big plus for the fact it wasn't laden with grease though.

Some of the best pizza I ever ate. All the great reviews are justified. My garlic prawn pizza was generously covered with fat, juicy prawns.
I withheld the 5th star only because on the occasion that I visited they'd run out of emu meat for the Coat of Arms pizza.

I absolutely love the food and service here. Even though there were a couple of hiccups with the order, staff fixed that up quickly and with no fuss. The serving sizes are quite large and excellent value for money. They are tasty as well. Can't recommend this place highly enough for anyone living in, or travelling through Coober Pedy.

Excellent pizzas. I almost always stop in Coober Pedy on my trips back and forth between the NT and SA and when I do stop, I can't go past John's Pizza. The pizzas here are so good I know of people having stolen a few topping ideas for their own restaurants. Cheeky sods!

As good a takeaway pizza as you’ll find in any big city. Granted, there’s not a a lot of competition or choice in a town the size of Coober Pedy, but that hasn’t comprised the quality or service of John’s. Friendly staff, decent prices (especially for remote Australia) and licensed with a good range of beers.

I love Australia; it was a really, really nice. It's such a beautiful place. The people are beautiful - like, really beautiful - and they are beautiful in terms of their personalities. It's a great place to be. It's like you are in a little bit of a dream world.

Undeniably the best pizza joint in the area. That, however, doesn’t say a lot, especially considering the lack of alternatives. What perplexed me, though, was what - surprisingly - many of John’s customers were occupied doing. If they were not mindlessly gazing down at their phones whilst awaiting their meal (and eventually whilst eating it), they were directing hungry snarls towards the kitchen area. But I will admit that by the time our pizza arrived I was in a similar state of mind. Definitely not as speedy as I imagined the Coober Spedians to be. OH yet, what surprised me the most, what I found most unusual was seeing fellow customers eating pizza with a KNIFE AND FORK! To have the complete Aussie experience, it is vital to shove the pizza into one’s gob and worry about the repercussions later. I think that’s the Aussie way. All said ‘n’ done, ‘twas well worth it.

Great variety of food with some of the largest pizza’s I have ever laid eyes upon! My personal favourite is the coat of arms which is a humorous name for an emu and kangaroo pizza! ?? The things these people come up with are hilarious! After a long drive on the road all day, it was incredibly comforting to sit down and enjoy a delicious pizza in the Australian outback. I just wish that they had this place closer to where I live!

The pizzas seem ok. Their coat of arms pizza is something a little different and gives adventurers an opportunity to taste kangaroo and emu. As there is very little kangaroo and emu on the pizza it may be a bit difficult to distinguish the flavours but it's a fun idea.

When in Coober Pedy and you are hungry or very hungry... John's Pizza Bar is just the place you want to go. The restaurant, open 7 days, is situated in the middle of the town and has plenty of car parking. The 3 sizes of pizzas are made according their menu or as you order them; like have & half of two types of listed pizzas! No matter what size you order the small, medium or large size pizzas are are well topped with the goodies. A large one will easily feed 2-3 people. If you don't feel like having a pizza... John's also serves a great variety of light meals, salads, seafoods, grills and pastas at very reasonable prices. So don't miss out on a good outback feed when in Coober Pedy!
